Pulpotomy
A pulpotomy is a procedure performed on a primary tooth with a deep cavity near the nerve of the tooth. It involves the partial removal of the nerve of tooth exposed to the dental decay followed by the placement of a suitable base to seal off the area of the nerve before a dental restoration is placed. It is important to do a pulpotomy when there is a deep cavity near the nerve to prevent your child from having a toothache in the future. In order to do a pulpotomy, the patient will first be given local anesthesia and then the pulpotomy procedure will take 10-15 minutes afterwards.
